Newark Museum Horizon Plaza

Hidden behind two decaying, corner buildings, the entrance to The Newark Museum was a secret to those passing nearby.  After negotiations with the City, the community and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), the two buildings were demolished and a small park was built, reflecting the layout of the historic Polhemus House in the arrangement of the park amenities.  The lighting of the park enhances those amenities and strikes a delicate balance between creating a safely illuminated environment for pedestrians and reflecting the aesthetic interests of the museum.
