The Jefferson Memorial

The lighting of the Jefferson Memorial creates an awe-inspiring nighttime experience for Washington, DC tourists and residents alike. The lighting connects the structure to its surroundings and reveals the full grandeur of the architecture, allowing visitors to appreciate the historic monument at all times of day and night. Visitors linger on the lighted steps, exploring the details of the memorial, from the text frieze surrounding the domed interior to the statue of Jefferson himself. State-of-the-art, energy efficient light sources used throughout the project allowed the Park Service to reduce energy consumption by almost 80% while creating a picture postcard image of the Memorial.
